3 Reasons Why I Chose a Good Drinking Water Container Over Dangerous Bottled Water

Are you sick and tired of hearing that the tap water that you’re drinking might not be the best but not knowing exactly what to do about it? Recent news article state that US water supply has trace balances of dangerous chemicals. I, like most people, find this fact unacceptable.

These specific chemicals have actually been shown to cause mutations in frogs and other water species. If you think that by drinking bottled water you are protecting yourself, think of this recent statement by the U.S. FDA: “Companies that market bottled water as being safer than tap water are defrauding the American public.” If you bought a water filtration system, I congratulate you on making a wise decision. However, did you ever think about the drinking water containers that you store the water in? Here are three reasons on why you would want a good drinking water container over bottled water.

First of all, a good drinking water container would filter out toxins, lead and chlorine that would be in the bottled water. Recent innovations in water filtration technology have allowed companies to design portable water containers that come with a filter.

These effective reusable containers are also efficient as each filter is good for 40 gallons/ 60 days. These containers are lightweight and even fashionable. I personally carry one to the gym and on runs.

Second, there are harmful effects of plastic bottles that are just coming to light. Recent reports indicate that plastic bottles exposed to the sun or any other heat source produces a carcinogenic substance, bisphenol A. Bisphenol A is also considered an endocrine disruptor and would cause health issues with long term exposure.

Another chemical to be concerned about in bottled water is actually intentionally added to the plastic in bottled water. Phthalate is added to the plastic to make it flexible. This chemical is also considered to be carcinogenic.

I don’t know about you but I used to leave plastic bottles lying around in my car all the time until I learned the facts above.

Finally, there is the environmentalist issue to prefer good drinking water containers over plastic bottled water. The production of plastic bottled water is also one of the biggest sources of pollution in the U.S, possibly leading to global warming. Over 60,000,000 plastic bottles are produced, transported and disposed of EVERY DAY in the U.S. alone! San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Chicago, and many more have made it illegal to spend city dollars on bottled water due to harmful and wasteful environmental impact.

So in conclusion protect your health and fight global warming and by switching from bottled water to a high quality drinking water container. Your best bet would be to buy from a company that has been rated “Best Buy” by Consumers Digest a couple of years in a row and then decide from there.
